Amy Bach!

Lawyers sleeping during death penalty trials.

Public defenders pleading clients guilty with only
scant knowledge about the circumstances of the case.

Court-appointed attorneys who assume all of their
clients are guilty.

Judges convicting and sentencing criminal defendants
without a trial or plea.

Lawyers being paid $50 per criminal case.

Amy Bach will discuss her groundbreaking book, Ordinary
Injustice: How America Holds Court. In this revealing indictment of
our criminal courts, Bach moves from southern Georgia to upstate
New York, from Mississippi to Chicago, exposing courts that
administer assembly-line justice in the name of efficiency and strip
poor people of their most basic constitutional protections in the
process.

Tuesday, November 17.  12:30-1:45.  Room 10.  Lunch provided
